What is Design Thinking?
Design Thinking is a model focused on the creation of solutions centered on people’s needs, taking into account the users’ point of view.
This tool is very useful in Digital Marketing to get the right message to consumers, who are increasingly demanding, and give them a feeling of greater proximity and satisfaction with the brand.
Currently, many companies are applying it to encourage innovation applied to the proposal of new products and generate competitiveness.
How to apply Design Thinking in Digital Marketing
With Design Thinking model it is easier to define the value proposition and the messages you want to convey to your target audience.
We tell you the steps to follow to carry out a Digital Marketing campaign, applying the principles of Design Thinking:
1. Empathize with your buyer persona
First of all, you must collect all the information regarding your target audience.
You can do this by conducting interviews to understand the entire process your customers go through until their problem or need is solved. It is also essential to know how they have interacted with the brand’s communication channels (web, email marketing, social networks…).
By gathering all the information that Sales and Customer Service department have, you will discover your target’s experience with your company’s products and even with those of the competition.
3. Define the problem
This stage is fundamental in the Design Thinking methodology.
With all the information collected about your buyer persona it is time to analyze it to define a problem and describe it from the user’s point of view.
This step can be used to create a new product, improve an existing one or design campaigns that satisfy a specific need or a common frustration of your customers.
3. Produce ideas
In this phase it is the turn of brainstorming, in which all team members must participate and accept all ideas, no matter how strange they seem.
These ideas will serve to define the channels that the campaign will use and the contents and formats that will be included in it.
4. Prototype
Fourthly, you have to produce something that allows you to show the target audience the proposed solution quickly and without great cost, before developing a definitive tool or creating an E-book.
5. Test
Once you have the prototype ready, release it to a sample of your audience for feedback.
You can do A/B testing of your campaigns, focus groups, surveys in social networks… to detect in time all that needs to be corrected, better or changed.
As in Digital Marketing all data is in real time, you will be able to understand what works and what does not, as well as know if you have managed to improve the initial situation of the user, and try something different if necessary.
